Straight-through processing (STP)
A transaction that completes end to end automatically, with no manual intervention. In order management, an order posted to the ERP with zero keystrokes.
Straight-through processing (STP) is a term borrowed from finance that describes a transaction flowing all the way through a system automatically. In order management it's used interchangeably with 'touchless' — an order received, validated, and posted with no human keying.
STP rate is a core operational metric: the percentage of orders processed without manual intervention. Raising it directly reduces labor cost, processing time, and error rates.
